Hood Canal: Kiteboarders Delight
Pacific Northwest kiteboarders love Belfair State Park! They are coming in droves from all over Seattle and Tacoma and beyond to kite the warm waters of the Hood Canal. We Belfair locals have appreciated our waters for decades, but new to the scene is the kiteboarding community!
These guys love the easy launch on the green grass, the warm water and the welcoming park rangers that Belfair State Park offers. This is a busy campground, so the weekends can be pretty crowded, especially when the wind is up and the spectators are out in groves taking pictures and cheering the guys on as they do tricks showing off close to shore.
You may be wondering when you might be able to see this amazing sport in action! Just come to the park when there is a south wind blowing and you will see us (yes, Cari from The Shumaker Group is an avid kiteboarder) skimming the water on surfboards or kiteboards. You won’t see me jumping and flying through the air, but if it’s windy you will likely see my husband, sons and others flying 30 feet or more in graceful flight.
The Shumaker Group ladies love living by, playing on, and slinging houses around the gorgeous Hood Canal. Kiteboarding is just one of many activities that make calling Hood Canal area home such a wonderful thing!
